Surf Sports are there for our lifesavers to have fun, develop better surf skills, keep active and provide great social networks within the sportCompetition begins in U8’s with the number and distance of events increasing as participants progress through the Nippers program until the U14’s season is completed. Junior athletes must gain a relevant award every year and pass a competition skills evaluation test in order to compete every season. Once an athlete has turned 15 and attained the Bronze Medallion Award they can compete as an Open competitor with many more events available to them including ski and surfboat competition. Competitions are held at Club, Branch, State, National and International levels.

A test of fitness, skill and experience for juniors, opens and mastersCarnivals include surf swimming, board paddling, surf ski, beach flags, beach sprint and Ironman as well as team events. They promote a healthy lifestyle, comradery and sportsmanship across the North Coast Branch.

Mastering the art of board paddling is crucial to performing your role as a life saverAt Woopi nippers, during the summer season we offer three board training sessions a week. Led by our highly regarded Club Coach, Ted McCartney, the sessions cater for beginners right through to our top competitors.


surf skis
Ride the Waves and Feel the Exhilaration of a Surf SkiLed by Ski Captain, Bob Hunt who himself is an Australian Masters Ski Champion, the surf ski contingent at the Club is forever growing. Ski paddlers range in age from teens to masters, with everyone training together to develop great camaraderie.

Become a Boatie with our Strong TeamBoaties need to be at least 16 years old and hold a Bronze Medallion. If you're interested in giving surf boat rowing a go, but don’t have your Bronze we would love to hear from you! Woolgoolga SLSC offers Bronze Courses throughout the season.
